Mid-layer/outerwear with shell fabric mapping
The Adrift series is made of Octa®, which is by far the lightest fabric and has a very high warmth to weight ratio.
The high breathability of Octa® is both an advantage and a disadvantage depending on usage conditions, but by partially attaching the shell material, the WITH SHELL series can be used as outerwear during cold weather.
This season, we have updated the lining material to Octa ThermoFLY, which has less shedding. Compared to the Octa CPCP, the Octa ThermoFLY has less shedding and contributes to the prevention of microplastics.
Adoption of recycled material
Octa® fabric is composed of two types of fibers: polyester woolly fiber and polyester hollow octopus-leg cross section fiber.
Of these, 53.6% of the woolly yarn is replaced with recycled polyester (ECOPET®) to reduce the environmental impact.
46.4% is regular polyester hollow octopus foot cross section yarn.
This recycling reduces CO2* emissions during fabric production by 23% by using the same material of recycled polyester compared to Octa®CPCP® of virgin polyester. (*Teijin Frontier Co. CO2 emissions from raw materials (polymer) to fabric shipment)
What is Octa ThermoFLY?
A mesh fleece material that combines a mesh material on the surface with a hollow polyester bristle fiber with a deformed cross section that serves as a heat insulator.
Octa ThermoFLY used in the With Shell series is lighter and warmer than Octa®CPCP® fabric, which is used as a single piece, and contributes to the prevention of microplastics that remain semipermanently in the natural world. It also contributes to the prevention of microplastics that remain semi-permanently in the natural world.
Material Characteristics
- Lightweight: 1/2 the weight of polyester fibers of the same diameter
- Sweat absorbing and quick drying: 1/2 the weight of polyester fibers of the same diameter
- Thermal Barrier: The dead air contained in the hollow space and the space between the 8 prongs provides a thermal barrier effect.
