In recent years, the outdoor wear and active insulation categories have rapidly expanded. Mainly, overseas brands have taken the lead in product development. One of the insulation materials in this active insulation category is TEIJIN Octa®CPCP®, known for its lightweight and high heat retention capabilities.
At STATIC, we chose to use Octa®CPCP® as a lining material for nylon fabrics in a single layer. Products from brands that develop in high-altitude and dry climates tend to be heavy due to Octa®CPCP® being used as a shell material. In Japan, where people often carry their insulation garments, this can make layering difficult.
Due to its special mesh structure, Octa®CPCP® is significantly lighter compared to the commonly thin 300g fleece, and its heat retention per weight ratio is exceptionally high, making it versatile for all seasons.
What is Octa®CPCP®?
Octa®CPCP® is a mesh fleece material that integrates uniquely shaped hollow polyester brushed fibers into the surface mesh material, providing both lightness and warmth. This polyester fabric is known for its breathability. While it's typically used as a lining, STATIC has adopted it as a standalone fleece.
Material Characteristics:
Lightweight: Achieves about half the weight compared to polyester fibers of the same diameter.
Quick-drying: Achieves about half the weight compared to polyester fibers of the same diameter.
Heat Insulation: Dead air contained in the hollow space and eight protrusions provide insulation.
Environmental Considerations:
Starting from Fall/Winter 2023 a pioneer in the industry by using 53% recycled material.
Recycling leads to a 23% reduction in CO2 emissions during fabric production compared to virgin polyester OctaCPCP.
Produced in a Japanese factory certified by OEKO-TEX®.
Biomass (plant-derived) is used in the dyeing process, reducing CO2 emissions.
Cut waste generated during production is recycled into new fabric instead of being incinerated.
Brand, size tags, and quality labels are made from 100% recycled polyester derived from PET bottles.
This product is shipped without individual plastic packaging, wrapped in thin paper.
